Client-Side vs.
Cloud-Based PDF tools
Why uploading documents to external servers is a security risk, and how iCreatePDF utilizes modern web APIs to process files 100% locally.
iCreatePDF (Local Processing)
Files are loaded directly into browser RAM using Web APIs. All actions (splitting, merging, password locking, signatures) run on your computer's local CPU. No document information ever leaves your device. Perfect for government IDs, contracts, and financial records.
Other Tools (Server Processing)
Converters like Smallpdf, Adobe Online, or PDFgear upload your source files to remote server infrastructure. Processing takes place in cloud virtual machines, and output files remain on cloud storage instances, creating a persistent target for interception and leaks.

Note on Text Reflowing & OCR Limitations
To maintain a completely private local environment, iCreatePDF intentionally excludes complex server-side reflow engines and heavy OCR operations. This means that while you can easily split pages, merge files, draw signatures, compress documents, and stamp page numbers privately, reflowing paragraph text embedded inside existing PDF bodies is not supported. For advanced document editing of non-sensitive files, standard cloud platforms can be used.
